Pee Pee, Dipsee, Poody Poo, you name it...

So...

Ya'll know how I like to get all in depth and personal on this em' here blog...

But is there a limit to just how personal one lonely, late night blogger should become?

I guess we're gonna find out!

My sister suffered an injury to her posterior region on the first day of our cruise last month. Since that time the aforementioned region of her buttocks and you-hoo has been a daily, if not hourly concern and topic of conversation with both friends, family, hospital staff, hair stylists and heaven knows everyone and anyone who dare asks, "What happened?" I cant begin to say how thrilled I am that my sister is finally starting to get back up on her feet (quite literally) after nearly six weeks of very restricted movement. I also cant begin to say how thankful and proud I am of my Mother, who has watched and tended that wound so fiercely I'm sure even Nurse Ratchett wouldn't have dared question her dedication.

Through it all my sister has had to withstand more discomfort than I could possibly imagine but surprisingly enough, having to divulge the rather intimate and private nature of her injury has not been one of them! Though that is not to say its not been a little awkward for others! It is always interesting to see who is able to speak opening and frankly about it in medical terms vs those who just cant find the words to begin to preface a question that involves terms for the "nether regions" ... then of course there are those who stick to the four-year-old's versions... like wee wee or bum hole.... Or "buttocks" like Forrest Gump ("I was shot directly in the butt-ocks!")

Like a woman who's gone through childbirth some times you hit a point in life where you just cant be bashful about the female form... and yet, despite six weeks of having to talk about it I still find myself saying things like "dipsee" (as a friend calls it) or "poody poo" as it's known to another friend...

I'm a little ashamed that as a 27-year-old woman I'm still so juvenile when it comes to discussing the female form... though I'm sure there are those who'd argue that it's indecent and unladylike to even write this?

Are you comfortable discussing anything and everything? Did you change after you had children?

Or is this all just far too personal?

Blessed is the Quiet

(Please excuse Arial. I just felt she belonged with this post for some odd reason. Which actually got me thinking about Arial from the movie The Little Mermaid... and how the title is kind of funny because Arial, the mermaid in the movie wasnt that little... in fact she was pretty average in size... which makes me think that the title "The Mermaid" had either already been taken or just didnt have the same ring to it... either way... on to my post about "being quiet" ... which I've pretty much blown to hell now by writing this super rambling photo caption and singing "Under-da-sea" to myself in a Jamaican accent... which makes me wonder why the crab was Jamaican... made me wonder enough to look it up and discover that his real name is Horatio Ignatius Crustaceous Sebastian.. but he just goes by Sabastian for short... which is great because that guy from CSI Miami is named Horatio and I cant stand that weasley bastard.... but I guess I better leave that quandary for another time.)

I love to blog. I love the blogs of my peers. But these past few months I've been more content to remain quiet and have not been inspired to write and share or even to explore and comment on others blogs, no matter how much I value their authors. I am not bored of this format of creativity and still very much care to keep this blog alive. But not today. And not yesterday. And maybe not even tomorrow. Though the writing of this post is a contradiction of sorts.

As women we feel this inherent need to share- to express and commensurate. We also sometimes feel the need to wrap ourselves in the comforts of home and tune out the world at large, to seek that quiet place within ourselves and rest a while there. So please excuse me if I take this time. And don't be surprised if I change my mind tomorrow... another distinct female trait, fickleness, is one I'm certainly guilty of at times:)

Thank you for your well wishes for my sister.... She is resting and healing.

Jingles for my sister, please.

We are home... Early, exhausted and emotions spent, but home. I've never been so happy to step foot on Canadian soil in all my life. At this time I'm not going to go in detail but I can say that on the second day of our trip- on a "sea day" in the Gulf of Mexico- my sister sustained a significant injury. The doctor on board determined that it was best she travel home as soon as possible to see a specialist here in Canada but due to our location we had to wait two days before being able to catch a flight (from Belize) that could accommodate her needs. As horrible as these past few days have been, and despite how much my sister has had to endure, we still have reason to be thankful as she is expected to make a full recovery. My family was raised with the expression, "I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man with no feet."

As bad as it is, my sister is walking, her spine is in tact, her brain is as sharp as every and her heart is beating strong. There is so very much to be thankful for... but it is hard to remember that when you see someone you love in pain.

I believe in energy and positive thinking and so would greatly appreciate any "jingles" for my sister's health and speedy recovery... no need to leave a comment, just a moments thought is all it takes.

Thank you and I'll post an update soon.

Vacation Destination Recommendation? Hey! That rhymes!

My Mom, sister and I are pondering one of life's great questions...

Where we're going to go to escape the gray doldrums of this West Coast weather. We're planning a trip for the first week of March and cant decide where we'd like to go.... only that where ever it is there must be sun, nice warm weather and sandy beaches.

One of the biggest factors is cost. My mom is awesome at shopping for deal online but because havent focused on one specific area it has made it more difficult for her to narrow down our options.

There are a lot of cheap packages to Mexico but as my Mom and I love to cook (and because we are all pretty fussy eaters (and I dont drink) we've decided against an all inclusive (food and beverage). Also, I'm not crazy about grocery shopping in Mexico. We also agree that we'd prefer to be on the Caribbean side and not in a place that is jam packed with tourists.... but safety is of issue too.

Which is why Hawaii is at the top of our list right now.

But we cant decide which Hawaiian Island (or which city on which island) would be our best bet. Our plan for Hawaii is to rent a place through vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner), as well as rent a car and to cook our own meals. The prices of flights right now are not great but we're going to wait and see if something comes on sale.

Miami, Texas, Bahamas, and the "eastern" destinations are an option but as we're on the West Coast we'd have to consider travel time.

Does anyone have a vacation destination recommendation? Hey! That rhymes!
