I was able to get out today and ride Jewel, my lease horse. It was the first time all week (and in the five rides (yay!!)) that I've been alone at the barn. While I've really enjoyed all of the people I've met and have relished in being able to talk horses for hours on end, I have to say it was really nice to just spend some one on one time with a horse.
And I cant think of another horse (besides my mare Abby) that I'd rather spend time with right now than Jewel- she is a genuine sweetheart and every bit a mare- perpetually hungry, has "something to say" and avoids hard work but ultimately very willing to please and a love bug.
She's adorable - and I'm a real sucker for a bay!
ReplyDeleteTotally kissable face! You do know it is futile to try not to fall in love, right? Enjoy her!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Looks exactly like the mare that I used to take lessons on. What a soft, kind doe eye.
ReplyDeleteShe is a stunner. She looks so gentle and calm. Enjoy every minute with her
ReplyDeleteShe is quite a beauty and sounds like a fun horse. How long do you have her for? I'm sure you will have a great time (and predict that you will fall head over heels within 2 months)
ReplyDeleteshe's a beauty! I sure do love those bays!
ReplyDeleteShe looks just wonderful and she does have a lot to say with those eyes.
ReplyDeleteGlad you could find a good horse to lease!
She is absolutely adorable! I am such a sucker for little bay mares. Love her! And that eye...wow!
ReplyDeleteHA! I really liked your description of a mare.(Not that I do in real time)
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful!
KK
VERY nice!!! She is lovely... and I think it is impossible not to fall for her!
ReplyDeleteShe does look like a gem.
ReplyDeleteNo sense trying to fight falling in love, it's going to happen anyway and nothing wrong with it.
I have to say, I am sooooo glad that you finally took the plunge and got back into horses.
She is adorable! Actually, she looks a lot like our little mare, Bella. Same eye, markings and bay color. Bella is also the sweetest girl ever. Have fun with her!
ReplyDeleteWow! She is totally a cutie!! A nice well put together horse, of course I would expect nothing less from you! Very Very pretty mare!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie! You are very blessed to have her in your life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty girl! Love the eye picture. You both are lucky to have found each other. Enjoy your time with her.
ReplyDeleteJewel is beautiful! Love her rich bay color and perfect white star. You took really nice photos of her! She does remind me of Mama H's Bella. Bella belonged to my auntie Desert Rose before she went to live with Mama H.
ReplyDeleteSo what is Jewel's story? Is this a lease to own possibility? Or does she just need a rider? Do you ride her huntseat?
p.s. Why is there another Pony Girl on here? LOL! ;)
She's a cutie! And I loved your mare description. That sums up my experience with Maddie perfectly! Of course, Maddie is MY first mare.
ReplyDeleteAs for your "garburator" poll, I chose "Yes, but I don't use it" even though I use it sometimes. We compost everything we can, but sometimes things end up in the garburator. So, my answer should really be "Yes, sometimes".
Jewel looks so cute and kind, and it sounds like shes the perfect horse for you, enjoy her and fall in love with her:)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love her! She is so beautiful, and I have always loved bays!! Look at that star!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you!
What a pretty girl she is! It took me awhile to figure this one out, but I eventually discovered that if you squat slightly (depending on how tall you are) your horse will look much better in photos. I still forget periodically (like last week's sad looking Shadow shot :o) but it's amazing how much of a difference it makes. Cute post!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Everyone needs a pony love on. Good luck not falling in love.
ReplyDeletePretty Bay mare- and she looks kind too!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and Happy riding!
Oh yes, riding at the two-point in lessons is my least favorite thing too! Sweet mare.
ReplyDeleteI have a new horsey blog, if you want to check it out.

I do not believe that there is one perfect horse out there that makes us each feel complete, but I do believe that there are many horses out there who are destined to touch our souls. So go ahead and fall in love with this one :) We may only have one heart, but it’s got all kinds of pieces.
ReplyDeleteShe's awesome. The English saddle gets better...hang in there. I will lay down money, that after a year of riding on one, you won't go back to western. I haven't looked back:-)
ReplyDeleteShe is soooo super cute! She looks like a Doc Bar bred mare!!! Oh I love her!! Bays, oh how I LOVE bays.....sigh!!!! I am so excited for you!!!
