Movies That Never End? and an Indian Feast!

Do you have a movie that you've watched a dozen times over but for some reason or another you rarely get to the end? You know the ones... like Dances With Wolves. I love when that movie comes on TV! I'll turn it on with every intention of sitting through the whole thing but by the time John and Stands With a Fist hook up I'm gone. Sometimes I even forget how the thing ends though I can damn near recite the first forty minutes line for line....

Same goes for the Cher classic, Mermaids, Farris Beulers Day Off, and Good Will Hunting.... Or Oh! Another is Unforgiven. How does that one end?....

On a totally unrelated note I spent all day Sunday making an East Indian Feast!!

I made from scratch...

Aloo Gobi (potatoes and cauliflower cooked in Indian spices, garlic and onion.)

Raita (dipping sauce made of yogurt, buttermilk, cumin, cucumber, carrot, lemon, and cilantro.)

Roti (unleavened whole wheat bread.)

Chicken Skewers (chicken marinated in buttermilk and Indian spices, then skewered and grilled.)

Basmati Rice (made with cumin, peas, cilantro.)

Vegetable sauce (coconut milk, red curry paste, onion, red pepper, tomatoes, tomato paste and spices.)

Chaat (Raita (see above) with chickpeas, potato, chutney, cumin, cilantro and topped with a crunch fried dough like what samosas are made with.)

All the food turned out, thank goodness, as there were eight of us for supper. I finished with a homemade coconut flan dessert and Indian sweets that I bought from the store. As good as everything was, I can easily say that the company was better!

Hope you all head a great weekend!

  1. Some movies I can and will watch again and again. Some, once is enough. Unforgiven and Dances With Wolves are like that. So are The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, Forest Gump, Legends of the Fall, and A River Runs Through It.

Your East Indian feast sounds great!

  3. Hahaha - I have finished Ferris Bueller several times - I can tell you how that one ends...

As for Unforgiven, I think he just falls off his horse alot and it goes on for 239482384 hours.

The Indian food sounds delish! Glad it all turned out well. I always get nervous cooking for a crowd (yes,I consider 8 a crowd! ) and make some old standby that I know will turn out well...

I'm the same way, because sometimes, for no particular reason, my meals turn out really bad. For example, on thursday, I decided to make a roast. Well the food was all done and I then spent half an hour trying to make gravy that didn't resemble gellatin (I'm normally proficient in the gravy category). I gave up, Good thing I was only cooking for my Significant Other!

  5. Laughing... not sure I finished Dances with Wolves either. Last time I remember watching it, I was googling as I watched trying to find out info on his horse!

  6. Lol! I may have seen those movies from start to finish, but still couldn't tell you how they ended or who was in them. Why is it that I can still recall which horse won a particular class at the App Nationals in 2001, as well as the Sire/Dam and rider, but I have a brain block when it comes to pop culture?! Maybe I just need to give a damn, I guess.

Your feast sounds amazing! My ex is Indian and I miss the food soooo much. Maybe you can send me some recipes! Did you make the roti? Mmmmm....hungry!!

  7. I have to say that as somebody who has never liked Indian food, my mouth is watering big time for the leftover's tonight. Chelsi did an incredible job and the effort was seriously, all day and for us worth every minute, we felt like we were in a 5 star restaurant, it was that good. Can't wait for the next time she cooks for us.

Love you Honey, and thanks again.

  8. Aliens and Harry Potter...I have started both of those movies a million times and still haven't seen them to the end. Your meal sounds delish...especially that coconut flan. Yum!

  9. Ummm, your feast sounds delicious. I'm of like mind with photogchic when it comes to "Alien". I've seen it once from beginning to end and have watched it many, many times since on TV. I can't get all the way through it anymore because I get too scared. One time I took all my kitchen drawers out and placed them on the floor in front of the tv and set about organizing their contents while I "Alien" was playing, so I could distract myself. I love scary movies though, and that's why I keep torturing myself with the movie.
