Legends of the Fall

Have I done a post yet on Legends of the Fall? I think I might have mentioned it a time or two...

Either way, I'd like to take a moment to thank director Edward Zwick for putting together the drool fest, horse/ranch/cowboy orgy he named "Legends of the Fall".

I was 13 when this movie came out and I remember thinking that it had to be the BEST movie ever made! Brad Pitt and horses? And a beautiful ranch (filmed in Alberta, Canada btw) and a soundtrack to die for, and the tragically beautiful Julia Ormond! The costumes! The era! Oh and the story! *sigh*

I am the eternal and hopeless romantic!

I found this footage today while looking for a specific scene featuring a black horse I remembered from this movie (that I think looks a bit like this gelding I found for sale on dreamhorse.)

Thought you might enjoy it too.

  1. yeah, I think I need him (the horse in the dreamhorse ad). However, he's almost an entire month's take home pay. I don't think my husband will agree with moving and all coming up.

I loved Legends of the Fall. It's been one of my favorite movies for what seems like forever!

And you were only 13!!! I feel so OLD! Thanks for that, Chelsi! I love you too! :P

  2. *sigh* yeah, a good movie for sure. I remember the first time I saw Brad Pitt in a movie. He was a nobody then. It was Thelma & Louise. I rember sitting up real straight in the chair and proclaimed quite loudly "Who is that!!??" Damn!! the boy was too cute for words! I'm telling ya, it was a moment I still remember quite fondly.
You were 13? You're still a baby!! There's a lot of good times ahead for you girl - enjoy every one of them. :)
The only time I feel old is when something hurts. Otherwise, this feeling old stuff is hogwash!! Age is truly just a number...or a mindset.

  3. C-ingspots- I ALWAYS hurt. So, in this case, age does make a difference. Btw, I'm really not too much older than Chelsi. But, comparatively as to what I was doing with my life when Legends of the Fall came out, (I was married and had a baby), it feels like I'm light years older.

  4. That movie and A River Runs Through It are just so beautifully made. Tragic, but beautiful.

  5. I love that movie, too! My college roommate and I bawled like babies during that movie when we saw it at the theater. I just watched it again last summer (I have it on VHS) and loved it more now that I'm back into horses. It has such beautiful cinematography!
